Downing Renewable Developments (DRD) has been granted planning consent for a 20 MW solar farm which, when operational, will generate enough energy to power around 5000 UK homes per year.

The Limes Farm Solar Park located in Bourne, Lincolnshire, enables the landowner to continue farming through ongoing sheep grazing, while supporting diversification of their business as well as making a major contribution to national and local renewable energy targets.

As part of a community benefit package for the project, DRD will provide up to 80 local homes with free domestic solar panel installations in addition to US$135,000 being provided to Bourne Town Council to spend on local projects.

This planning consent builds on DRD’s existing 6 GW pipeline of UK renewable development projects including a 40 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) project in the East Midlands, a 100 MW BESS project in the West Midlands, and a 49.9 MW solar farm in Norfolk.

Founded in 2010, DRD is an international renewable energy development business that develops, constructs, and operates a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects across the UK and Europe.
