Nord Gas Secures Contract For Poland’s First BioLNG Plant
New Brownfield Facility Will Convert Manure-Based Biogas Into Transport-Ready Fuel

Nord Gas Solutions (Nord Gas) has secured a contract to build a biogas liquefaction plant in Poland capable of processing 35 tons (32 tonnes) of biogas per day, a project expected to become the country’s first bio liquefied natural gas (bioLNG) production facility.
The facility will convert biogas into bioLNG using Nord Gas’s Puregas CA75 LBG and Puregas MR35 technologies.
Nord Gas’s Puregas CA technology recovers more than 99.9% of the biomethane in raw biogas by separating carbon dioxide through chemical adsorption. According to Nord Gas, the selective organic solvents are so efficient that the product gas is also suitable for direct injection into the gas grid without additional enrichment.
The mixed refrigerant (MR) liquefaction process produces bioLNG that is subcooled at -256°F (-160°C), allowing it to be used as a transport fuel through the same infrastructure as fossil LNG. BioLNG from Nord Gas’s MR liquefaction process can be seamlessly mixed with, or fully replace, fossil LNG.
Developed as a brownfield conversion project, the plant will use existing biogas production infrastructure to produce renewable fuel.
The plant will process manure-based biogas into low-carbon-intensity bioLNG, helping reduce emissions in the transport sector while creating additional value from agricultural residues.
According to Nord Gas, the facility is expected to supply a significant share of the bioLNG produced to the transport market, where demand for low-carbon fuels continues to rise.
“This project highlights the role bioLNG can play in supporting the energy transition while creating value from agricultural resources,” said Magnus Folkelid, sales manager, biogas, at Nord Gas Solutions. “We are pleased to contribute to the establishment of bioLNG production capacity in Poland and to support the continued development of the country’s biomethane sector.”
