About Us
Energy Transition Insider is devoted to the companies, technologies, projects, and breakthroughs that are redefining the global energy mix.
We cover groundbreaking carbon capture and hydrogen projects, emissions reduction pathways in oil and gas, operational improvements using artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, policy, regulation, government programs, and more.
At Energy Transition Insider, we believe in a balanced approach to a low-carbon future that accounts for environmental and economic factors. We look at the entire energy value chain, from sustainability thought leaders within the oil and gas industry that are embracing electrification and low-carbon fuels compatibility to liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects with lower carbon dioxide (CO2) intensity, better menthane management, and integrated carbon capture facilities.
Energy Transition Insider focuses on reducing emissions, not eliminating fossil fuels overnight. Cleaner oil and gas, lower-carbon fuels, and carbon capture and storage can play pivotal roles in a lower carbon future. Renewables face constraints, such as long permitting timelines, storage limitations, transmission bottlenecks, and intermittency. At the same time, overdependence on industries that produce significant greenhouse gas emissions poses a significant climate risk.
By keeping our coverage balanced, we attract an array of engaged readers that work within the energy sector, as well as folks looking to learn more about the energy transition.
Columns & Columnists
Pulse Of Planet Earth
In Pulse Of Planet Earth, Paula DiPerna discusses new investment vehicles and financial architecture designed to achieve massive shifts in capital flows toward environmental stewardship and away from environmental exhaustion. She examines emerging metrics, policies, cutting edge technologies, carbon and other environmental markets, and wholly new approaches to the use of money in our global economy, weaving in her extensive range of personal experience around the world. Using a uniquely personal narrative style, DiPerna’s column brings to life transformational vanguard approaches that can break through long-standing bottlenecks to truly put economic activity at the service of environmental protection at a planetary scale.
DiPerna is an author, media commentator, and strategic policy and philanthropic advisor. She currently serves as special advisor to CDP, as well as on the Distinguished Advisory Board of the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market and the Sustainability Advisory Council of Jupiter Asset Management. DiPerna formerly served as president of the Joyce Foundation, as well as resident of CCX-International (Chicago Climate Exchange), which launched and operated the world’s first cap-and-trade system to address climate change. DiPerna also served as writer, producer, and Vice President for International Affairs for The Cousteau Society, whose principal was legendary oceans explorer and environmentalist Jacques-Yves Cousteau. DiPerna’s most recent book is Pricing the Priceless: The Financial Transformation to Value the Planet, Solve the Climate Crisis, and Protect Our Most Previous Assets (Wiley).
Fahrenheit 2.7
The official stated goal of the Paris Agreement is “to limit global warming to well below 3.6°F (2°C), preferably to 2.7°F (1.5°C) compared to pre-industrial levels.” Deceptively simple but riddled with complexities, the proposal calls for an internationally unified front that directly addresses climate change. It’s the energy transition on a global scale.
Analysis from the Copernicus Climate Change Service indicates that 2025 was only slightly cooler than 2023, while 2024 remained the warmest year on record and the first year with an average temperature clearly above 2.7°F. The problem is getting worse, not better.
Melting ice caps, rising sea levels, disrupted ecosystems, and potentially uninhabitable metropolitan areas are just some of the dangers affecting our planet. The higher global warming is, the more these risks are amplified and the closer we get to the tipping point. Warming the planet to 3.6°F above pre-industrial levels tilts the balance in favor of catastrophe. As stewards of planet Earth, it’s our responsibility to avoid that.
The purpose of Energy Transition Insider isn’t to take sides, but instead, to spur open dialogues so that we can learn from each other and work together. The Fahrenheit 2.7 column is a part of this mission. Here, Energy Transition Insider Editor-In-Chief Daniel Foelber discusses the impact that technology, policy, public and private initiatives, business, and finance are having on the world around us.
