Sagepoint Logistics, a for-hire carrier based in Carmel, Indiana, has added 60 heavy-duty trucks powered by renewable natural gas (RNG), doubling its low-carbon fleet to 120 vehicles. The carrier is a subsidiary of Sagepoint Energy, an Indiana-based waste-to-energy company that produces RNG.

Freightliner built the new trucks, which use Cummins X15N engines. They run on 100% domestic RNG sourced directly from Sagepoint Energy’s production facilities, and they operate in the Midwest.

Sagepoint also closed a senior secured financing with Power Sustainable Infrastructure Credit Manager L.P. (PSIC). Financial terms were not disclosed. Sagepoint Energy, which operates facilities nationwide, says it employs more than 110 people.

“The demand for low-carbon transportation is accelerating, and our customers want a partner that can scale with them. Doubling our fleet to 120 trucks is how we answer that call. Shippers no longer have to choose between sustainability and reliable, cost-predictable shipping, and this expansion is just the next step in scaling that solution across the market,” said Aaron Johnson, chief executive officer of Sagepoint Energy.

“We’re seeing strong demand from customers for reliable, sustainable transportation solutions, and that demand is driving our expansion. Every additional truck means more capacity for our customers and more opportunities for professional drivers who want to be part of a cleaner, more forward-looking operation,” said Curt Reitz, vice president of logistics at Sagepoint Logistics.
