Hyundai Motor has officially introduced the IONIQ 3, an all-electric compact “Aero Hatch” developed primarily for the European market. Built on the proven Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the IONIQ 3 utilizes a 400-volt architecture designed to balance efficiency and everyday usability. The vehicle’s exterior debut introduces the “Art of Steel” design language, featuring a low front end and a roofline that extends straight back to maximize rear passenger space before merging with a rear spoiler. This aerodynamic focus results in a segment-leading drag coefficient of 0.263.

“With IONIQ 3, we are bringing the bold design, driving enjoyment, and advanced features of the IONIQ brand to a broader range of customers across Europe,” says Xavier Martinet, president and chief executive officer of Hyundai Motor Europe. “Built for people’s real everyday needs, IONIQ 3 combines an expected segment-leading driving range and aerodynamics with extraordinary levels of space, comfort, and practicality. IONIQ 3 also marks the debut of the Pleos Connect infotainment system, delivering sharp graphics, an intuitive user experience, and broad customization options — raising the bar for the segment.”

To meet diverse driving needs, Hyundai offers the IONIQ 3 with two battery options. The Standard Range model provides a projected WLTP range of 214 miles (344 km), while the Long Range variant targets up to 308 miles (496 km). The electric powertrain delivers 107.8 kW (147 PS) of output and 250 Nm of torque, supporting a top speed of 106 mph (170 km/h). When using direct current fast charging, the battery can be replenished from 10% to 80% in roughly 29 minutes. Additionally, the vehicle supports alternating current charging up to 22 kW and features vehicle-to-load capabilities, allowing users to power external equipment from the car’s battery.

The interior follows a “Furnished Space” philosophy, emphasizing comfort and material authenticity through the use of recycled and bio-based textiles. Despite its compact footprint, the flat-floor layout enables a five-seat configuration and a benchmark 117-gallon (441-liter) luggage capacity, supplemented by an “under-trunk” Megabox for extra storage. Technology centers on the new Pleos Connect infotainment system. Pleos is Hyundai’s first European application of Android Automotive OS and is available with a 12.9-in (33 cm) or 14.6-in (37 cm) display. Safety is managed by the SmartSense suite, which includes Highway Driving Assist 2, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and a Surround View Monitor. Production will take place at Hyundai’s İzmit plant in Türkiye.
